Privacy Policy

Parably (“we,” “the app”) is a Bible quiz and study app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep it simple: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and we don’t use advertising or cross-app tracking.

Information we collect

Account information: your email address and the display name you choose — used to create your account, sign you in, and show your name on leaderboards.

Your activity in the app: quiz results, scores, reading progress, and study/mastery progress — used to save your progress, sync it across your devices, and rank scores on leaderboards.

Content you create: notes, highlights, verse tags, and studies you write in the app — stored with your account so they back up and sync across your devices. They are private to your account: nothing you write is shown to other users or on leaderboards unless you share it yourself.

A user account identifier used to associate the above with your account.

Bible study sign-ups: if you register for a live Bible study (for example at parably.app/biblestudy), your first and last name, email address, and mobile phone number, and whether you chose to get text reminders. You don’t need a Parably account to sign up. We use this only to send you the study link and reminders about the studies you registered for.

We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, or device advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How your data is stored

Account and progress data is stored securely with our backend provider, Supabase, which hosts the database and handles authentication. Access is restricted so that you can only read and write your own records.

How we use your data

Only to operate the app: authenticate you, save and sync your progress, display leaderboards, and — if you signed up for a Bible study — send you the study link and the reminders you asked for. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Text messages (SMS)

Text reminders are optional. If you check the box to receive them, we use your mobile number only to text you reminders about the studies you registered for — about one message a week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is never a condition of using Parably.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We use service providers only to deliver messages on our behalf: Twilio for text messages and Resend for email.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete account), or by contacting us at the email below.

Children

Parably is rated for all ages and contains no objectionable content. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
